DETAILS: Monarch Teacher Network (MTN) is an East-coast-based organization that has trained thousands of teachers how to use monarchs in the classroom to get kids excited about learning.  They have never hosted a workshop in the west -- until now!

During the June workshops, participants will receive training, materials and hands-on field experience with monarchs.  The ultimate goal is to help teachers develop a curriculum that uses monarchs to teach to a wide variety of subjects. We will be focusing on western monarch butterflies, native California milkweeds, and the unique issues facing the western monarch population.

Participants will learn how to plant a butterfly garden to attract monarchs, and will visit established gardens to see what works and what doesn't.  Participants will also learn how to tag monarchs, and will be provided with their own Monarch Alert tags.
